The board is the most important component of any skateboard. It is with her that the skater interacts directly, and it is with her help that he controls, jumps and does various tricks. The ease of performing tricks and the pleasure that follows them depend on the deck, its qualities and other characteristics.

Each professional board consists of seven layers of Canadian maple. Other characteristics of the deck may vary depending on the manufacturer and each individual model. To these characteristics, first of all, it is important to include the width of the board (as a rule, from 7.5 to 8.5 inches) and the depth of the concaves – the bends of the board from the center to its edges. It is worth noting that the width of the deck is determined by the size of the skater’s feet and/or his personal preference. This preference is due to the fact that certain tricks are easier to perform on narrower boards (various flips), and others on wider boards (slides, grinds and jumps from steps and great heights). At the same time, the width of the deck determines the width of pendants, they should not be wider or shorter. Violation of this ratio can cause various inconveniences associated with turns and control of the skateboard on the go.
